Review – The Sinking City
Lovecraft is someone often imitated but never matched. A significant number of games have lifted from his mythos to different levels of success, but there's something intransferable about his storytelling. The Sinking City is an interesting take on his brand of horror, but it winds up a very mixed bag.

Review – River City Girls
I like River City Ransom. I'm a girl. Get me on that bus. While River City Girls doesn't adopt the log-arms of the Nekketsu/Kunio-Kun/Downtown/River City series, it does have a significant amount of colour and charm to make up for it. I'm just of the opinion that it doesn't play quite as well.

Review – Baobabs Mausoleum Episode 3: Un Pato en Muertoburgo
Eeeh, this deep into the Baobabs Mausoleum series, I've lost the faith. There's a lot of personality on display, but also a lot of half-assery. But at least there's this one last episode to get through. And at least we get to find out how Watracio Walpurgus survived a gunshot to the head.

Review – 198X
I am, if nothing else, very sentimental about video games. Not sure if you can tell. It doesn't take much to get me to spin yarns about my childhood and the games that turned me into the wreck you see before me. So 198x appeals to me on a conceptual level.

Game Complaint Department’s Game of the Year 2019
Last year, I came to the realization too late that I didn’t actually play many games released in 2018. In 2019, I worked to remedy this, and did it work? I guess so. I reviewed 7 games released in 2019 this year which is… Well, it doesn’t really feel like a lot, but it’s better than last year. I also…

Review – Luigi’s Mansion 3
I’ve always been a fan of Luigi. Ever since his high jumps nearly broke Super Mario Bros. 2. When I’d play Super Mario World alone, I’d start a two-player mode and kill off Mario so I could just play as Luigi. So, golly, I was so on board with Luigi’s Mansion back when it dropped alongside the Gamecube in 2001.…

Review – The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
The first time I finished The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening I nearly cried. Anyone who’s done the same probably knows what I’m talking about. The second time, however, I was less impressed. I was on a Zelda kick and was playing through the games in order of their release, and, I don’t know. Maybe it’s just because it was…

Review – Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered
As a sizeable Ghostbusters fan, the prospect of a new game was pretty exciting back in 2009. The remaster provides an excuse to dive back into it and see if the hype was appropriate. Ghostbusters has a history of bad video game adaptations, but was this one any different?

Review – Baobabs Mausoleum Episode 2: 1313 Barnabas Dead End Drive
I was left feeling cold by the gameplay of Baobabs Mausoleum Episode 1: Ovnifagos Don’t Eat Flamingos, but still came away with nothing but affection for it. It was its aesthetic; a weird mix of creepy and groovy. It was its protagonist who I kept reading in the voice of Jack Nicholson. It was the lighthearted horror that wasn’t so…

Review – Hypnospace Outlaw
I’m old enough to remember the internet before the dot–com bubble burst. I’d boot up my Intel 486 powered, Windows 3.1, beige monstrosity and, with a burst of horrid screeching noises, log onto the ‘net. The youth of the internet was an awkward phase filled with spinning gifs and noisy backgrounds. “Surfing the web” meant navigating from site to site…
