Stargate Atlantis: “The Game” – The Spin-Off Doctors Spin-Off

The Spin-Off Doctors Spin-Off (sometimes just called Spin-Offs for brevity) is a podcast that analyzes media spun off from videogames. While the show usually focuses on film and TV adaptations, occasionally books are discussed. The show is often irreverent but never aims for a mean-spirited take. Feel free to consume the media in question or just listen to us discuss it.

Deep in the Pegasus Galaxy is a machine that plays this podcast and it affects what we say in real life. We’re covering Season 3, Episode 15 of Stargate Atlantis, an episode in which the characters discover a ‘game’ similar to Civilization or Europa Universalis that lets players guide a group of people through scientific advancements or combat…only to find out that their ‘game’ is affecting real people.

It’s a show for both newcomers and experts of the Stargate canon because two of the hosts are extremely familiar with the show and one has only seen this episode. There’s even a quiz which you can play along with Daniel at home if you’re a newbie. Learn all about how the American government plans to conquer space on this episode of the Spin-Off Doctors Spin-Off!

Daniel is a podcast producer and musician who spends way too much time in the edit to make audio sound as good as possible. He’s cutting the “umms” and “uhhhs” and replacing them with cartoon sound effects. His taste in video games is often extremely specific, and he’s recently learned that a lot of his opinions about video games are bad and wrong, but that won’t stop him from having them. His music was featured in Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons. He's been producing podcasts since 2021.
