Currently Playing – 27 – Monster Train 2 with Carson Anderson

It’s the 2nd anniversary of Currently Playing and this month, Daniel talks to Carson Anderson, a software engineer who gives talks about the technical aspects of coding on YouTube. Today he’s telling us about his “monogame” which is Monster Train 2, a roguelike deck-builder in the vein of Slay the Spire. We get into the weeds about what makes Monster Train 2 unique and how it distinguishes itself from the first game in the series. If you’re anything like Carson, you might find yourself spending hundreds of hours in there, so come on ride the train!

Daniel is a podcast producer and musician who spends way too much time in the edit to make audio sound as good as possible. He’s cutting the “umms” and “uhhhs” and replacing them with cartoon sound effects. His taste in video games is often extremely specific, and he’s recently learned that a lot of his opinions about video games are bad and wrong, but that won’t stop him from having them. His music was featured in Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons. He's been producing podcasts since 2021.
