Review – Sin & Punishment Star Successor
It's incredible that we ever got a sequel to Sin & Punishment. It launched in the twilight days of the N64 and didn't sell very well. Star Successor isn't a great fit for how Nintendo was pushing the Wii at the time. But somehow the stars aligned and here we are.

Review – Army Men: Major Malfunction
After 3DO went bust, Global Star obtained the rights to Army Men and passed development off to Team17. Yes, that Team17. However, I can't stress enough: 3DO's developers weren't the problem. As proof of this, Major Malfunction, despite being created by an established developer, is one of the worst games in the series.

Review – Army Men: Turf War
Turf War is the last of the three Army Men titles on Game Boy Advance. It's interesting, since it uses 3D models over 2D backdrops. Sort of like the Tony Hawk GBA games. Unfortunately, that's about the only thing interesting about it. It isn't as bad as it could be, though.

A lot of the time, when an Army Men title got ported to another platform, it would be remade from the ground up and become a distinct game. However, for some reason, most of the games that landed on Game Boy Color were recognizable ports, including Army Men: Air Combat.

Years after writing this review, I had convinced myself that I accidentally played Land Sea Air on hard mode and wasn't able to change it back. So, I tried it again, making sure it was on Medium. Nope, this game really is so unfair that it's painful to play.

I'm kind of proud of this one, as I recognized the artistic intent behind Army Men: Sarge's War. I felt that it acted as an intention to end the series as it was passed from the bankrupt 3DO to Global Star. I talked to creative director Michael Mendheim later who confirmed it.

Digital Eclipse followed up their Game Boy Color sort-of port of the first Army Men with a sort-of port of Army Men 2. Only this time, it's even more distinctly its own game. It doesn't so much try to replicate the PC title, but rather fit its themes on GBC.

The tendrils of the Army Men series sprawled their way to the Game Boy, starting with a port of the original on the Color. Well, "port" might be being a bit generous, but Digital Eclipse did a decent job at moving it over to less powerful hardware.
